Paul Plante says:

And hoo boy, is it ever, as thanks to this senile goofball Joe Biden and his INSANE GREEN DREAM, concrete becomes a luxury item in America, if you can find some, and this has been predicted by the CCM all along because a blind man could see this coming:

“Supply shortages threaten U.S. infrastructure and war efforts”

By Lisa Baertlein

March 29, 2023

LOS ANGELES, March 29 (Reuters) – Manufacturers of everything from pickup trucks to homes are still grappling with tight supplies of microchips and cement – shortages that could translate into delays and higher costs for federal efforts to arm Ukraine against Russian aggression and rebuild U.S. crumbling infrastructure and manufacturing.

The supply chain woes that sent costs soaring and spurred shortages of everything from toilet paper to passenger cars are easing for retail-focused industries, but remain stubbornly persistent in important growth sectors like autos, machinery, defense and non-residential construction, experts said.

“For sectors where demand is still strong, we are still seeing issues of materials shortages, and these problems will take additional time to resolve,” said Jason Miller, associate professor of logistics at Michigan State University’s business school.

“One of the big issues as we’re trying to ramp up the military industrial base is having enough electronic components,” Miller said.

Companies that make war weapons like shoulder-fired Javelin and Stinger missiles are awaiting U.S. funding before starting new production for Ukraine.

When the defense industry gets that greenlight, their scramble to source semiconductors and other hard-to-find electronic components could usher in a new wave of supply chain snarls that disrupt production and drive up costs.

“Any general shortage in semiconductors will affect defense,” said Brad Martin, director of Rand Corp’s National Security Supply Chain Institute.

A global shortage of cement – a key input for concrete used to build bridges, highways and factories – threatens to slow down federally-funded infrastructure and American-made semiconductor and green energy factory projects.

Cement producer Martin Marietta Materials reported “robust demand” in its largest market of Texas, where it is already seeing “sold-out conditions,” CEO Ward Nye said on a Feb. 15 earnings call.

Michigan State University’s Miller said ready-mix concrete and concrete products such as blocks and highway dividers are highly sought after.

“It’s probably one of the strongest sectors in manufacturing at the moment.”

“It hasn’t shown signs of cooling down.”

THE CAPE CHARLES MIRROR APRIL 3, 2023 AT 8:57 PM

Paul Plante says:

If Senator Joe Manchin had been a faithful reader of the venerable Cape Charles Mirror, which has been all over this issue of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, he would have known long ago. as opposed to now, that it was all smoke and mirrors and bull**** that wasn’t going to do a thing about reducing our massive, crippling deficit:

1945

“‘Americans Will Pay the Price’: One Democrat Is Angry at Joe Biden”

Story by John Rossomando

2 March 2023

Manchin Regrets ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ Vote – West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin now regrets having signed onto the “Inflation Reduction Act.”

He signed the legislation last July, claiming it would tackle inflation by “aggressively producing more energy, get more supply, and bring prices down.”

The $793 billion legislative package was supposed to have addressed health care and climate, raise taxes on high earners and corporations, and reduce the federal debt.

The bill succeeded the $3.9 trillion Build Back Better infrastructure and social support legislation and the $1.75 trillion version that he blocked in the fall of 2021.

Manchin now admits to having been naïve about the Biden administration’s objectives.

“Our national debt stands at nearly $31.5 trillion, or close to $95,000 for every man, woman and child, and represents 120% of our gross domestic product.”

“Annual budgetary deficits have averaged $2.71 trillion since October 2019.”

“Since Covid-19 began, we have added more than $8 trillion to the national debt,” Manchin wrote in an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal.

“Despite explicit direction from Congress to pay down our debt in the Inflation Reduction Act, the administration seems more determined than ever to pervert that law and abuse existing authorities to increase spending.”

Manchin claims that President Joe Biden agreed the law was supposed to have paid down the national debt and generate $738 billion in new revenue and $238 billion to debt reduction.

China uses the runaway U.S. national debt as an excuse for its pursuit of de-dollarization and ending the greenback’s almost 80-year reign as the world’s reserve currency.

The Chinese Communist Party propaganda mouthpiece, The Global Times, blamed the U.S. government’s inability to balance its books for the push to end the dollar’s status.

“Actually, Washington has only itself to blame … given that the US has been aggressively using deficit financing to combat the economic ravages of COVID-19 pandemic, the sustainability of its debt might be called into question too,” The Global Times said.

“Since the US is stubbornly tethered to impeding and hurting other economies, its competitors have no obligations to embrace the outdated Bretton Woods system and help the US maintain the dollar hegemony.”

Manchin expressed anger with the administration’s failure to follow the law’s intent to expand fossil-fuel production and using regulatory measures to support “Green energy” instead.

“The administration is attempting at every turn to implement the bill it wanted, not the bill Congress actually passed.”

“Ignoring the debt and deficit implications of these actions as the time nears to raise the debt ceiling isn’t only wrong, it’s policy and political malpractice,” Manchin wrote.

“I believe the only person who can rein in this extremism is Mr. Biden.”

Manchin wants Biden to come to the table and negotiate with “fiscally minded Republicans and Democrats to negotiate common-sense reforms to out-of-control fiscal policy.”

“The second step is for Mr. Biden to instruct his administration to implement the Inflation Reduction Act as written and stop redefining its credits and other subsidies.”

“That alone would save the American taxpayer hundreds of billions of dollars in needless spending,” Manchin wrote.

Thus far, Biden has failed to deliver, and Manchin claims failure might “score political points with left-wing partisans, but generations of Americans will ultimately pay the price.”

THE CAPE CHARLES MIRROR APRIL 8, 2023 AT 11:19 AM

Paul Plante says:

And speaking of the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION, starting with Joe himself, who seems to be everywhere but behind his desk in Washington, D.C., while he touts how very great a WORLD LEADER he is, being a chief emitter of GLOBAL GREENHOUSE GASES, where oh where is Joe’s commerce secretary JET-SETTING Gina Raimondo today?

The last time we checked in on her, that according to a Reuters article on March 9, 2023, JET-SETTING GINA was on a four-day trip to India, accompanied by the chief executive officers of 10 U.S. companies and she was scheduled to meet India’s trade minister to map the semiconductor supply chain together and identify opportunities for joint ventures and technology partnerships, which of course, as any schoolchild today knows well, are human activities that will cause even more climate change, as does Gina JET-SETTING around the globe, let’s go to a Bloomberg article titled “Raimondo Asks Europe to Partner Against China on Chips” by Josh Wingrove on 7 April 2023, where we have the following emissions of hot air from Gina as she sets United States foreign policy, to wit:

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo called on European governments to work with the US to fight climate change and counter Chinese clout, the latest sign that Washington hopes allies follow its lead in passing a landmark climate bill.

end quotes

If JET-SETTING GINA really wanted European governments to work with the US to fight climate change, one who is rational, logical and sane would think that Gina and the rest of the JET-SETTING BIDEN ADMINISTRATION would set the example by not creating climate change themselves.

As to countering Chinese clout, it is more than a bit late for that, which takes us back to Bloomberg and Gina, herself a VENTURE CAPITALIST, having co-founded Point Judith Capital, Rhode Island’s first venture capital firm in 2000, to wit:

The US passage of the Inflation Reduction Act rankled European leaders, who complained that it was an unfair subsidy.

The Biden administration has sought to soothe that angst while signaling that Europe should match them rather than start a trade fight.

end quotes

Yeah, right, Joe, just keep on shoveling out more and more money, which devalues the money (RECALL THE WEIMAR REPUBLIC), and everything will be just fine as Joe’s IRA itself is a chief cause of INFLATION in this country as a result of Joe’s PROFLIGATE BORROW BIG AND SPEND MASSIVELY policies, which takes us back to Bloomberg and Gina, as she sets U.S. foreign policy, to wit:

“We need to work together, and I think whether it’s the IRA or the chips initiative, there’s opportunities for European companies and opportunities for us to work together to meet the moment with climate change and our global competition with China,” Raimondo told Bloomberg Television on Friday.

end quotes

Ah, yes, people, we need to destroy our nation and our economy so Gina and the European companies she apparently has taken charge of can work together to meet the moment with climate change and Gina and Joe’s global competition with China, that as Gina and Joe continue to be GREAT CONTRIBUTERS to global warming with their JET-SETTING (Joe is on his way to Ireland, one of the many provinces, along with the U.S., that he governs) and their INSANE GREEN DREAM that can only be accomplished by heavy equipment running on diesel fuel, which takes us back to Bloomberg, as we learn where JET-SETTING GINA and her “team” are off to next as they spread TOXIC GREENHOUSE GASES all around the world, to wit:

Raimondo said her adviser Elizabeth Economy was about to go to China.

Last month, Raimondo said she planned to send her team to China as she weighs a trip to the country herself.

end quotes

If we are in such fierce competition with China, who Joe Biden treats as a major enemy as he tries to deny them access to global markets, why is Gina going there?

Which takes us to this inane statement from Gina, to wit:

She said the US isn’t looking to make all semiconductor chips on its own soil but must rely less on Asia.

“Nobody thinks that we should be making everything that we need in America,” she said.

end quotes

Uh, Gina, wake up and snatch your head from out of your posterior, because Joe Biden, your boss, with his MADE IN AMERICA policy, most certainly does think we should be making everything that we need in America, and that, people, is the NEWS!

THE CAPE CHARLES MIRROR APRIL 22, 2023 AT 10:57 PM

Paul Plante says:

So what really is this so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” that does not reduce inflation because it is a cause of inflation?

By way of review, in the original post starting this thread, we had as follows from his imperial majesty Joe Biden, as follows:

Joe Biden @JoeBiden
United States government official
11:20 AM · Sep 1, 2022

For decades, climate deniers blocked any meaningful progress in dealing with the climate crisis, but not this year.

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we’re taking the most aggressive action to confront the climate crisis ever.

end quotes

There we have the so-called Inflation Reduction Act “confronting” the “climate crisis,” which is a patently ridiculous claim, given that “climate,” an invented term, simply means “the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period,” generally accepted to be a minimum of 30 years.

So what is this so-called “climate crisis” we hear Joe Biden and his sycophants and toadies screeching about on a daily basis?

Here is that definition, to wit: a situation characterized by the threat of highly dangerous, irreversible changes to the global climate, as in “these pillars of action give us a global roadmap to tackle the climate crisis and to ensure a sustainable future.”

And what pray tell is the global climate?

Here is that definition, as well: Global climate change refers to the average long-term changes over the entire Earth.

So, we see, or should be able to see, given that the term “global climate” is itself just another contrived or invented term, that there can be no “climate crisis” in reality, since the climate of the earth has always been changing and always will be changing, and in fact, EVERYTHING that Joe Biden proposes to do to “confront the climate crisis” will simply exacerbate the problem, given that climate change is caused by human activity, not carbon dioxide or CO2.

Getting back to this so-called Inflation Reduction Act, which term is a bill of goods, we have as follows:

“The Biden Administration Publishes a Guidebook to the Inflation Reduction Act”

By Tim Duncheon on December 16, 2022

On August 16, 2022, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law, directing a record $370 billion toward clean energy investments.

Yesterday, the White House released a 182-page guidebook to the IRA entitled Building a Clean Economy.

John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation, explains in his introduction that the guidebook “provides a program-by-program overview of the Inflation Reduction Act, including who is eligible to apply for funding and for what purposes.”

In the coming weeks and months, the Administration will provide further updates on http://www.CleanEnergy.gov.

end quotes

And there we see the fallacy of the so-called Inflation reduction Act, which is going to pour even more federal dollars into the economy causing more inflation, given that pouring money into an economy makes each dollar of less value.

Google “Weimar Republic” for some background on that reality.

But let’s bring this up to date with regard to the IRA causing inflation by pumping yet more federal dollars into the overheated economy by going to an Associated Press article titled “Biden signs order prioritizing ‘environmental justice'” by Josh Boak and Drew Costley on 21 APRIL 2023, as follows:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Friday signed an executive order that would create the White House Office of Environmental Justice.

Biden tried to draw a contrast between his agenda and that of Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

“Environmental justice will be the mission of the entire government woven directly into how we work with state, local, tribal and territorial governments,” Biden said in remarks at the White House.

The order tells executive branch agencies to use data and scientific research to understand how pollution hurts people’s health, so that work can be done to limit any damage.

As part of the announcement, Vice President Kamala Harris is separately traveling to Miami, Florida, to announce $562 million to help protect communities against the impacts of climate change.

The EPA last year formed its own Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights, merging three existing EPA programs to oversee a portion of Democrats’ $60 billion investment in environmental justice initiatives created by last year’s Inflation Reduction Act.

end quotes

A SIXTY BILLION DOLLAR “investment” in environmental justice initiatives?

How does that serve to lower inflation?

And while we are on that subject, right now, we, the beleaguered taxpayers of this nation are paying the holders of 3 Month Treasury Bill 4.97%, when last year, the interest on that same bill was 0.82%.

So do some math here, people, because ALL of this massive amount of money the Biden administration and the Democrats are pouring into their INSANE GREEN DREAM is BORROWED MONEY!

And we are who is insane by allowing it to happen!

Paul R. Plante says:

Fox News

“Sen. Manchin dragged on Twitter for criticizing Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act after he cast pivotal vote – Manchin previously voted for the Inflation Reduction Act and called it a ‘transformative bill'”

By Lawrence Richard | Fox News

Published April 25, 2023

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., was criticized on Twitter after he threatened to repeal President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act Monday night despite being the deciding vote in its passing.

During a segment of “Hannity,” Manchin accused the Biden administration of “breaking its word” on the legislation in its pursuit of a “radical climate agenda.”

He said he would do “everything” in his power to stop them — which included a threat to eliminate the law.

Manchin shared a video of the segment online saying: “The Biden administration is breaking its word to the American public by ignoring the text of the Inflation Reduction Act to pursue its radical climate agenda.”

He added: “Let me be clear: if this continues, I’ll do everything in my power to stop them — including voting to repeal the IRA.”

Several people who responded to Manchin were quick to point out that he ultimately was the reason the IRA passed in the first place.

“You gave them the deciding vote to do it and now are trying to pretend every bit of damage it causes isn’t your fault,” Republican communication strategist Matt Whitlock said in response.

“Lol dude you did this,” Daily Signal columnist Tony Kinnett responded.

“You could have stopped it,” another user responded.

Another said: “You literally made this mess Joe.”

“Your fault man.”

“Yours,” said a user.

Whitlock also shared a video of Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo, who asked Manchin during an interview if he regretted voting for the Inflation Reduction Act.

During the interview, the Democrat said: “No, not at all.”

“The ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ will be the most transformative bill that we’ve ever had in the United States Congress as far as I’ve been there.”

The IRA cleared the U.S. Senate on Aug. 7, 2022, after Manchin supported the bill and forced a 50-50 tie.

The tie was then broken by Vice President Kamala Harris, and it cleared the chamber with a vote of 51-50.

Biden signed it into law later that same month, on Aug. 16.
