"FBI official who shut down key Hunter Biden details called to testify by top Republicans"

Jerry Dunleavy

26 SEPTEMBER 2022

The FBI agent who recently left the bureau following whistleblower allegations that he shut down key details about the Hunter Biden investigation must testify, House Republicans have demanded.

Timothy Thibault, the former FBI assistant special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office, closed up a line of inquiry into now-President Joe Biden's son in October 2020 despite some of the evidence being known to be true at the time, according to whistleblower allegations.

Now, Republicans in the House and Senate are calling for Thibault to speak with them.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Thibault telling him to contact the committee to schedule a transcribed interview by Oct. 7.

“Whistleblowers have come to Congress alleging that you were part of a scheme to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Biden family,” Jordan and his colleagues told Thibault.

“Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry.”

The Republicans told the former FBI official that “this letter serves as a formal request to preserve all existing and future records and materials in your possession relating to the topics addressed in this letter” and that the preservation request relates to “all electronic messages sent using your official and personal accounts or devices.”

Thibault left the FBI last month.

His lawyers released a statement at the time, saying he “was not fired, not forced to retire, and not asked to retire.”

“There have also been allegations that Mr. Thibault took certain actions in investigations for partisan political reasons,” Thibault’s attorneys said.

“Mr. Thibault welcomes any investigation of these false allegations, regardless of his retirement."

"He firmly believes that any investigation will conclude his supervision, leadership, and decision-making were not impacted by political bias or partisanship of any kind.”

Thibault’s lawyer added, “To further set the record straight … Mr. Thibault did not supervise the investigation of Hunter Biden."

"... In particular, Mr. Thibault was not involved in any decisions related to any laptop that may be at issue in that investigation, and he did not seek to close the investigation.”

The push to get Thibault to testify comes as Republicans call on Attorney General Merrick Garland to grant special counsel protections and authorities to the U.S. attorney running the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden.

THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

"The Biden administration has launched its war on pro-lifers"

Opinion by Timothy P. Carney

26 SEPTEMBER 2022

The FBI on Friday morning arrested a pro-life activist at his home for a 2021 scuffle with a Planned Parenthood activist.

The family and friends of Mark Houck said the scuffle involved an abortion activist harassing and screaming at Houck’s 12-year-old son until Houck shoved the man to the ground.

In response, Houck’s family and friends have told reporters, the FBI this weekend sent a platoon of agents with weapons drawn to arrest Houck at his house.

Even if you take only the FBI’s version of the tale, the Biden administration assembled a grand jury, secured an indictment, and charged a man with a federal crime possibly carrying an 11-year sentence because he shoved another man who received “injuries … that required medical attention.”

Because there is an extraordinary federal law protecting abortionists from protesters, sidewalk counselors, and rosary prayers, Houck is now charged with a federal felony.

This only makes sense in a political context.

Specifically, the Biden White House and the Democratic Party on the state and federal levels have declared a legal war on pro-lifers, while vigilante abortion defenders wage a parallel war of arson, vandalism, and harassment.

“I met with many of you in my office at the White House,” Vice President Kamala Harris told Democratic state attorneys general at a conference on Thursday.

“And we discussed the innovative strategies that you have used to defend women's reproductive freedom.”

What are those “innovative strategies?”

They seem to include the persecution of abortionists' competition.

The very first example Harris gave was: “You are taking on, rightly, the crisis pregnancy centers.”

The vice president, who has said she approaches abortion policy like “a prosecutor,” is siccing state attorneys general on the nonprofit organizations that serve mothers in crisis pregnancies because those nonprofit organizations don’t abort the babies that come through their doors.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) has said she wants crisis pregnancy centers "shut down."

That was the same day a crisis pregnancy center outside of Detroit was attacked for the second time, with death threats spray-painted.

More than 70 such attacks have happened in the past few months, and the Biden administration has said and done nothing about it.

It’s as if they’re fine with the threats, arson, and vandalism.

But a sidewalk scuffle brings in the full force of the FBI on one of the two men involved?

It sure looks like part of the Biden administration’s defense of abortion is to outlaw pro-life activity.

"Stock market losses wipe out $9 trillion from Americans’ wealth"

Robert Frank @ROBTFRANK

PUBLISHED TUE, SEP 27 2022

KEY POINTS

* Americans’ holdings of corporate equities and mutual fund shares fell to $33 trillion at the end of the second quarter, down from $42 trillion at the start of the year.

* With major market indexes falling further since July, experts say losses from financial markets could total $9.5 trillion to $10 trillion.

* Economists say the drops could add pressure to Americans’ balance sheets and possibly hurting spending.

Falling stock markets have wiped out more than $9 trillion in wealth from U.S. households, putting more pressure on family balance sheets and spending.

Americans’ holdings of corporate equities and mutual fund shares fell to $33 trillion at the end of the second quarter, down from $42 trillion at the start of the year, according to data from the Federal Reserve.

With major market indexes falling even further since early July, and the bond market adding further losses, market experts say the current wealth losses from financial markets could total $9.5 trillion to $10 trillion.

Economists say the drops could soon start rippling through the economy, adding pressure to Americans’ balance sheets and possibly hurting spending, borrowing and investing.

Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said the losses could reduce real GDP growth by nearly 0.2 percentage points over the coming year.

“The loss of stock wealth suffered to date, if sustained, will be a small, but meaningful headwind to consumer spending and economic growth in coming months,” Zandi said.

The wealthy are bearing the largest losses, since they own an outsize share of stocks.

The top 10% of Americans have lost over $8 trillion in stock market wealth this year, which marks a 22% decline in their stock wealth, according to the Federal Reserve.

The top 1% has lost over $5 trillion in stock market wealth.

The bottom 50% have lost about $70 billion in stock wealth.

The losses mark a massive and sudden reversal for shareholders who saw record wealth creation from soaring stocks since the pandemic.

From the market lows of 2020 to the peak at the end of 2021, America’s stock wealth nearly doubled, from $22 trillion to $42 trillion.

The bulk of that wealth went to those at the top, since the wealthiest 10% of Americans own 89% of individually held stocks, according to the Federal Reserve.

With stocks declining, and with those at the top bearing most of the losses, wealth inequality has fallen slightly this year.

The top 1% owned 31% of the nation’s household wealth at the end of the second quarter, down from 32.3% in the beginning of the year.

The share of wealth held by the top 10% slipped from 69% to 68%.

While Americans have gained wealth from rising housing prices, the gains have been more than offset by stock market losses.

America’s housing wealth rose by $3 trillion in the first half of the year to $41 trillion.

The gain is only about a third of the amount lost in the stock market.

Yet with rising mortgage rates, home prices have started to decline or cool in many markets.

The drop in stock wealth also far exceeds the $6 trillion in quarterly stock losses during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

While stock markets have seen larger drops on a percentage basis, this year’s stock losses are among the largest ever on a dollar basis.

The big question is how much the stock declines will impact consumer spending.

So far, there are few signs that affluent consumers have cut their spending.

Yet some say the “negative wealth effect ” — the theory that wealth declines lead to spending declines — could soon start to bite, especially if market declines continue.

Zandi said lost stock wealth in the U.S. could reduce consumer spending by $54 billion in the coming year.

Yet he added that the “stock-wealth effect” is smaller that in the past, since the wealthy own such a large share of stocks and have “have substantial excess saving built up during the pandemic.”

“Since their saving cushion is so large, they won’t feel as compelled to save more given the decline in their stock wealth,” he said.

THE CAPE CHARLES MIRROR SEPTEMBER 27, 2022 AT 8:53 PM

Paul Plante says:

VI. AMERICAN AUTOCRAT/THEOCRAT JOSEPH ROBINETTE BIDEN, JUNIOR AT WAR WITH THE TRUTH; ANATHEMATIZES MEMBERS OF SUPREME COURT WHO DARED TO DEFY HIS WILL AS TO THE MEANING OF CONSTITUTION; ACTIVELY INCITES VIOLENCE TOWARDS MEMBERS OF THE SUPREME COURT TO PUNISH THEM FOR GOING AGAINST JOE’S WILL WHILE INCITING REBELLION, SEDITION, INSURRECTION, AND YES, TREASON, AMONG THE WOMEN OF AMERICA!

Yes, people – anathematize, which is a big, old-fashioned, largely unheard-of-today word with a lot of syllables in it that I personally never thought would be or could be applied to an American president, because to “anathematize” someone or several someones in this case, they being the Supreme Court Justices who signed onto Dobbs, State Health Officer of the Mississippi Department of Health, et al. v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization et al., No. 19–1392, decided June 24, 2022, wherein was held by those now-anathematized Justices that OUR Constitution does not confer a right to abortion and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives, is to curse them and condemn them as in “Pope Gregory IX, in 1263, declaring ‘We excommunicate and anathematize all heretics, Cathars, Patarenes, Poor Men of Lyons, Passagini,'” or “the Third Council of Constantinople anathematized Pope Honorius as a leader of the Monothelite heresy.”

So the key word there, and this is what the American autocrat/theocrat Joseph Robinette Biden, Junior is applying to the members of the Supreme Court who signed onto Dobbs, is heresy, which is herein defined as “opinion profoundly at odds with what is generally accepted,” where in this case what is “generally accepted” is that in some undefined manner, the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution grants women in America a Constitutional right to murder unborn children.

And to gain a better understanding of this heresy, and who the heretics are who need to be anathematized, this before I go into the actual wording of Dobbs, State Health Officer of the Mississippi Department of Health, et al. v. Jackson’s Women’s Health Organization et al., let’s do some review of recent American history since Dobbs was decided, first by going to a Fox News article titled “AOC wonders if pro-life Democrats should continue to serve: ‘We really need to reassess'” by Cortney O’Brien on 26 June 2022, where we had the heretics identified as follows, to wit:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., suggested in an Instagram video Saturday night that pro-life Democrats should no longer serve in the wake of the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade.

end quotes

Pro-life Democrats, people, are heretics, and as such, should not have a voice in American politics, period!

Like the Cathars, they must be suppressed!

No ifs, ands or buts about it!

We do not want and do not need heretics in America, and Joe Biden and his Biden Democrats are going to root them out and rid of them, just as the Cathars were rooted out and gotten rid of back when, which takes us back to Fox News, as follows:

Several other Democrats and liberal media figures have sounded off on the abortion ruling in the past few days, with Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison calling the decision “illegitimate.”

“It isn’t up to you, this illegitimate court, or a bunch of state elected officials to decide what happens to a woman’s body… that choice belongs to a woman and no one else!”

“Period!!!” the DNC chairman said.

end quotes

IT’S WAR, people!

THE DEMOCRAT NATIONAL COMMITTEE HAS DECLARED WAR AGAINST THE TRUTH, THE FACTS, THE SUPREME COURT, RULE OF LAW, AND THOSE OF US WHO BELIEVE IN RULE OF LAW!

And here comes autocrat/theocrat Joe Biden into the fray, to wit:

President Biden responded to the abortion ruling, saying the Court ended what he claimed “was a correct decision,” and that it “expressly took away a constitutional right from the American people that it had already recognized.”

end quotes

Now, people, it is America, and in America, even a moron like Joe Biden gets to have and express an opinion, even if the opinion expressed, like that one, is not only stupid, but dead wrong!

But this is no longer that America, people, where RULE OF LAW applies.

This is Joe Biden’s version of America, and in Joe Biden’s version of America, it is he who is the ultimate decider of what the Constitution means, not the Supreme Court, and when the Supreme Court dares to go against what Joe Biden says the Constitution means, then it is the Supreme Court that is wrong, because as our autocrat/theocrat, Joe Biden is infallible!

And what about the violence that Joe Biden’s toxic rhetoric on abortion is stoking, violence Joe is not condemning, nor are the Democrats?

Let’s go back to Fox and see, to wit:

Pro-life pregnancy centers have also been vandalized in the days following the ruling.

The group “Jane’s Revenge” claimed responsibility for a handful of the attacks and published a letter this month declaring “open season” on crisis pregnancy facilities.

end quotes

Now, imagine if that were PROUD BOYS publicly declaring “open season” on something in America!

Oh, the hue and cry and keening and ululating by the Democrats would be deafening!

But when it is Democrats promoting violence, there is a complete HUSH, especially in the “PRO-JOE” main-stream and legacy media, but it does not stop there, which takes us to a National Review article titled “Violent Portland Pro-Abortion Protesters Destroy, Vandalize Property” by Caroline Downey on 26 June 2022, where we have more of the violence Joe Biden and the Democrats are promoting and provoking with their toxic and poisonous and insurrectionist rhetoric, to wit:

Pro-abortion protesters in Portland, Oregon charged through the city Saturday night, damaging and vandalizing property following the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

end quotes

And my goodness, people, their feelings were hurt by the Supreme Court, so of course they have a right to lash out in return and destroy stuff that they couldn’t build and that belongs to others who they don’t like, which takes us back to the National Review for more, to wit:

A crowd of about 60 black-clad marchers stormed downtown Portland, the Hollywood district specifically, “breaking windows and scrawling graffiti,” a Portland police report notes.

end quotes

AND NOT A SINGLE DEMOCRAT, STARTING WITH JOE BIDEN, CONDEMNED THEM FOR IT, AS THEY CONDEMN THE JANUARY 6th RIOTERS.

Going back to the National Review, we have more as follows:

“Officers were monitoring the crowd, but did not have resources to intervene in the moment,” it said.

Damage inflicted by the rioters included broken windows on several banks and coffee shops.

Protesters also vandalized a pregnancy resource facility, the Mother and Child Education Center, and broke the windows of and spray-painted a van owned by Portland Public Schools.

“If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either,” a flier advertising the march read, Oregonlive reported.

This slogan has, especially in the last month, been loosely associated with Jane’s Revenge, a collective of pro-abortion terrorists that has allegedly targeted dozens of pro-life pregnancy centers nationwide with firebombing and arson.

Earlier in June, activists claiming to represent Jane’s Revenge promised to unleash a new rampage of violence on clinics providing an alternative to abortion, announcing it “open season.”

On a storage box read the phrase “abort the court,” OregonLive reported.

end quotes

Are those open calls for violence, people?

Can you imagine the outcry if people alleged by the Democrats to be Trump supporters promised to unleash a new rampage of violence on clinics catering to the trans-gender crowd Joe Biden is so enamoured of?

Can you imagine the outcry if MAGA Republicans were targeting places where the LGBQT crowd gathers for their social events with firebombing and arson?

Or historically black churches?

Joe Biden would have every FBI agent there is searching them down to the ends of the earth to put an end to them, especially as Joe Biden has determined that white supremacy is the gravest domestic threat there is or can ever be to his democracy.

But when it is Democrat-protected groups performing the acts of violence, all we hear from Joe Biden and the Democrats is total silence.

WHY?

And before we go further on this subject of Joe Biden’s MASSIVE HUGE GREAT BIG LIES about abortion, let me stop here for a moment to let all that sink in, and after a station break for station identification, we will be right back with more, so stay tuned and don’t touch that dial!

"Bring Down Pump Prices Now, Biden Says"

by Andreas Exarheas | Rigzone Staff

Tuesday, September 27, 2022

Bring Down Pump Prices Now, Biden Says.

'Do it now.'

'Do it now.'

'Not a month from now - do it now'.

'Bring down the prices you’re charging at the pump, now.'

That’s the message U.S. President Joe Biden delivered to companies running gas stations at the Third Meeting of the White House Competition Council on Monday.

“The price of oil worldwide is down … in fact, lower than any price since Putin invaded Ukraine …"

"We haven’t seen the lower prices reflected at the pump though,” Biden stated at the meeting.

“Meanwhile, oil and gas companies are still making record profits — billions of dollars in profit."

"But guess what?"

"The price of oil comes down … don’t you think the price at the pump should come down?"

"The price of [a] gallon of gasoline."

"But it takes a long time for that to happen in relative terms,” Biden added.

“My message is simple."

"To the companies running gas stations and setting those prices at the pump: Bring down the prices you’re charging at the pump to reflect the cost you pay for the product."

"Do it now."

"Do it now."

"Not a month from now — do it now,” Biden continued.

When Rigzone sent an email to the American Petroleum Institute (API) asking if it had any comment on Biden’s statement, API’s SVP of Policy, Economics and Regulatory Affairs, Frank Macchiarola, replied with the below:

“Americans are looking for solutions, not political posturing."

"This is an industry of price takers, not price makers, and repeated in-depth investigations by the FTC have shown that changes in gasoline prices are based on market factors and not due to illegal behavior."

"The price at the pump that Americans are currently paying is a function of increased demand and lagging supply combined with geopolitical turmoil and policy uncertainty from Washington”.

As of September 27, the average price of regular gasoline in the U.S. is $3.747 per gallon, according to the AAA gas prices website.

Yesterday’s average was $3.725 per gallon, the week ago average was $3.674 per gallon, the month ago average was $3.857 per gallon, and the year ago average was $3.189 per gallon, the AAA site shows.

The highest recorded average price of regular unleaded in the U.S. was seen on June 14 at $5.016 per gallon, the AAA site outlines.

"Analysis: Gaffe or insight? Deciphering Biden's unguarded answers"

By Trevor Hunnicutt

September 27, 2022

WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) - "Yes," U.S. forces will defend Taiwan if it is invaded by China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is a "butcher" who "cannot remain in power."

And the COVID-19 pandemic is "over."

U.S. President Joe Biden's tendency to ad-lib in impromptu press situations is often referred to in Washington as his "gaffe" problem.

While the term refers to a blunder, Biden's remarks often aren't quite that - they betray deeper truths about his thinking and occasionally offer the public a better window into the administration's approach than that offered by spokespeople, from press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to members of his Cabinet.

As Biden himself told steelworkers this month: "No one has ever doubted I mean what I say; the problem is I sometimes say all that I mean."

Biden's casual and unscripted remarks can cause far-reaching diplomatic ripples, forcing White House staff to scurry to "walk back," to use another Washington term, his remarks, trying to smooth over upsets, without saying outright that he misspoke.

After Biden spoke on defending Taiwan in a CBS News "60 Minutes" interview this month, officials quickly said that U.S. policy towards Taiwan is unchanged.

But he has said similar things before as president.

His apparent willingness to commit U.S. forces to a battle in Taiwan clears up a long-standing disconnect in U.S. policy towards Taiwan.

Presidents have said since the 1970s that they support a "One China" policy that declares Taiwan a part of China, but also that they are bound by a 1979 law to help Taiwan defend itself.

Biden's response suggests the U.S supports One China in concept, but Taiwan's defense in practice.

'WALK BACK' ON PUTIN

His statement about Putin in Warsaw in March was quickly walked back by a White House official who said "the President's point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors" and not a discussion of "regime change."

Whatever the White House says, it is clear that the president's private view is that Putin is unfit for office, implying that he will use U.S. policy to weaken Putin whenever possible.

The White House has long said that it would be "driven by science" in determining when to end the COVID public health emergency.

Biden made his "the pandemic is over" remark on the sidelines of September's Detroit auto show as hundreds of Americans continue to die of the disease daily.

But they reflect changes in the administration's approach to the disease.

A new vaccine campaign is being compared by U.S. officials to annual flu shot drives, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention relaxed its guidance that masks always be worn in healthcare settings after Biden spoke.

The loose-lipped quality is not new.

As vice president during the Obama administration, Biden famously disclosed support for same-sex marriage before the president had been willing to do so.

"He's always had a reputation for saying what he was thinking," said former U.S. Senator Ted Kaufman, who has worked with Biden for a half century and remembers the onetime senator taking constituents' questions at a Wilmington, Delaware, train station.

MANAGING BIDEN'S CANDOR

The candor is the bane of anxious young press aides who let out long sighs or expletives when the president approaches reporters to answer questions in ad hoc briefings - which he enjoys doing but has suggested gets him in trouble with his staff.

Senior aides, worried about having to explain an indelicate, imprecise or speculative remark, rarely make Biden available for long-form interviews.

The "60 Minutes" interview, which included both the troop commitment in Taiwan and the pandemic comment, was Biden's first since a brief exchange in July with an Israeli television anchor.

"Generally, staff are risk-averse, and they figure in news conferences or high-profile events, if you make a mistake, it takes some while to clean up," said Towson University political science professor emerita Martha Joynt Kumar.

Biden has had far fewer formal interviews than his recent predecessors, Kumar's research shows.

Biden has held 17 press conferences, 39 interviews and engaged in 300 hundred informal back-and-forth exchanges with reporters in his presidency, according to Kumar's data through July.

That compares with an average of 41 press conferences, 112 interviews and 172 informal exchanges for the six preceding presidents over the same time frame.

While Biden's off-the-cuff remarks sometimes reveal deeper truths about his policy or opinions, other times they are simply misleading.

Biden, 79, said at a July event that he has cancer.

An aide later said on Twitter that Biden had non-melanoma skin cancers removed before he took office in January 2021 and that "this is what the President was referring to."

THE CAPE CHARLES MIRROR SEPTEMBER 29, 2022 AT 9:43 AM

Paul Plante says:

And my goodness, people, after the embarrassing spectacle Wednesday night of American autocrat/theocrat Joseph Robinette Biden, Junior’s cringe-worthy reference to a dead congresswoman, whom Biden called out to at a conference as if she were there, while Joe was speaking at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition & Health, calling out “Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie? She must not be here,” while scanning the room for her, when are these worthless Republicans in the NANCY’S HOUSE going to finally get some guts and put together a RESOLUTION calling on Vice President Karmela Harris to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments of the Cabinet to activate section 4 of the 25th Amendment to declare President Joseph Robinette Biden, Junior incapable of executing the duties of his office and to immediately exercise powers as acting President?

It’s a simple matter, really, especially since the Republicans already have a template from when the Democrats tried to use it against Trump:

Whereas Joseph Robinette Biden, Junior has demonstrated repeatedly, continuously, and spectacularly his absolute inability to discharge the most basic and fundamental powers and duties of his office, including most recently the duty to respect the legitimate results of a Supreme Court decision, the duty to respect the separation of democratic power under the Constitution, the duty to protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States, including the supporting, not reviling the Supreme Court, the duty to protect the people of the United States and their elected representatives against domestic insurrection, mob rule, and seditious violence related to abortions, and generally the duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives calls upon Vice President Karmela Harris —

(1) to immediately use her powers under section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize the principal officers of the executive departments in the Cabinet to declare what is obvious to a horrified Nation: That the President is unable to successfully discharge the duties and powers of his office; and

(2) to transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives notice that she will be immediately assuming the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

"'Where's Jackie?' Biden seeks lawmaker Walorski who died in August"

Reuters

September 28, 2022

WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden publicly sought out Jackie Walorski, an Indiana Congresswoman who died in a car accident in August, during a conference on hunger on Wednesday, seeming to forget that she had passed away.

Biden thanked other conference organizers, then asked: "Jackie are you here?"

"Where's Jackie?"

Walorski, a Republican, was one of four Congressional co-sponsors of the bill to fund the conference.

She was killed with two staffers in early August.

Biden moved past the issue without any correction.

After Walorski's death, the White House issued a statement from Biden that said he and his wife Jill were "shocked and saddened" by her sudden accident.

"Truly an awful and disgraceful blunder," Representative Vicky Hartzler, a Missouri Republican, tweeted in reference to the mistake.

Biden was “acknowledging her incredible work,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said when asked about the incident later, adding that Biden had already planned to welcome the congresswoman's family to the White House for a bill signing on Friday.

“She was on top of mind,” Jean-Pierre said.

FOX NEWS

"Nadler feuded with Schiff, Pelosi over 'unconstitutional' impeachment of Donald Trump"

Kyle Morris, Andrew Murray

27 SEPTEMBER 2022

FIRST ON FOX: A new book reveals that House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., was at odds with how House Select Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's handling of impeachment proceedings against former President Trump, insisting that the methods used by the prominent Democrats were "unconstitutional" and could be used to attack the party.

The revelation comes in a book set to be released on October 18 titled, "Unchecked: The Untold Story Behind Congress's Botched Impeachments of Donald Trump," written by Politico Playbook co-author Rachael Bade and Washington Post reporter Karoun Demirjian.

The book chronicles the methods Democrats used to target Trump.

In October 2019, amid the Democrats' plan to hold a full House vote on a resolution outlining the structure of impeachment proceedings against Trump, Nadler, according to the book, took issue with how Schiff, who was tapped by Pelosi to lead impeachment efforts, was prepared to proceed with the impeachment without due process for Trump.

Worried about the situation and the likelihood that his Judiciary Committee would not be able to cross-examine witnesses as the committee had done traditionally, Nadler confronted Schiff about the planned process, and, according to the book, said: "It’s unfair, and it’s unprecedented, and it’s unconstitutional."

"I don’t appreciate your tone," Schiff allegedly responded.

"I worry you’re putting us in a box for our investigation."

Sidelined by Pelosi to handle impeachment proceedings in the House, the book claims Nadler made an "effort to get back into Pelosi’s good graces" and that his "aides sucked up to her staff relentlessly" in an attempt to show that his panel was prepared to step in and assist.

Striving to earn approval from Pelosi, Nadler hired attorneys and had his team pour through records and books from the impeachments of former Presidents Nixon and Johnson.

Those efforts worked and led Pelosi and Schiff to reconsider the Judiciary Committee's involvement in the process, although they had "their own ideas about how he should run his committee process," according to the book.

"She didn’t want the Judiciary panel to interview witnesses at all," the book's authors wrote.

"Pelosi simply didn’t trust the panel — which was stacked with liberal crusaders and hotheaded conservatives — to handle the rollout of the complex Ukraine narrative with the careful, compelling treatment it required."

"She couldn’t afford another Nadler screwup."

The Judiciary chairman could focus on the legal business of crafting the articles of impeachment and have academics testify, she allowed.

"But that was it."

Nadler's frustration with the pair of Democrats grew.

Research conducted by his team proved that presidents facing impeachment from Congress had been allowed to defend themselves before the House Judiciary Committee, with attorneys for the president having the opportunity to attend hearings, as well as cross-examine testifying witnesses or call their own.

That did not matter to Schiff, and the fact that Trump would not be able to face his accusers before being impeached did not sit right with Nadler, who warned Pelosi and Schiff of the ramifications it would have in the long run.

"If we’re going to impeach, we need to show the country that we gave the president ample opportunity to defend himself," Nadler told them, according to the book.

The book noted that Pelosi and Schiff were concerned with what Trump's attorneys would say at the hearings, worrying that it could upend Democratic messaging ahead of the 2020 presidential election and stifle Biden's election chances.

Nadler's staff made attempts to clarify that Trump's impeachment needed to look "more like Nixon," but Schiff's team stood opposed as they said, "F--- Donald Trump," the authors recalled.

"Stick close to the Nixon and Clinton cases," Nadler reportedly said amid criticism from prominent Republicans about the legality of Trump's impeachment.

"You have to arm yourself against these process complaints."

Tensions among the teams for Nadler and Schiff continued to rise as impeachment efforts ramped up, with Schiff's team making it clear that they did not take Nadler seriously.

During a meeting with members of Schiff's team, the book's authors recalled that Judiciary counsel Aaron Hiller said Nadler would "insist on these hearings," but Dan Goldman, who served as Schiff's lead counsel for the Democrats' first round of impeachment hearings against Trump and is now seeking to represent New York's 10th District in the House, scoffed at the idea.

"Jerry Nadler?"

"With him, everything is negotiable," Goldman reportedly said at the time.

Nadler's team reportedly griped in private over Schiff's handling of the process, calling him a "control freak" who wanted to lead the process for as long as he could, the book claims.

The book says tension among both teams reached a breaking point when Schiff sent Nadler a draft of the resolution laying out the rules for impeachment, which ignored his concerns about due process for the president.

"These lawless HPSCI bast--ds!" one Judiciary aide said, according to the book.

Another claimed: "It’s dumb."

"It’s illegal!"

Nadler and Schiff met once more about the resolution, with their disagreement growing deeper as Nadler amplified his concerns about Schiff's plans to handle things, the authors claimed.

"They’re going to argue we don’t have due process for Trump."

"Why make that argument real?" Nadler asked Schiff.

"I write the rules of my committee, not you," Nadler added.

"I resent you telling me how to run my committee."

"I don’t really care about your resentment," Schiff quipped.

"Neither the Speaker nor I agree."

Pelosi's involvement in the matter, as highlighted in the book, was one of making the impeachment against Trump a "national security issue."

"We need to make the case more strongly that this is a national security issue," Pelosi told her team, according to the book.

"Eighty percent plus say it’s not okay for the president to ask for foreign assistance [in an election] — despite Trump asserting that he can do it."

"I just think we need to make this case to rural voters, evangelicals, and Republicans."

During a meeting highlighted in the book, Pelosi played a clip of conservative commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano and insisted his words could be used to better sell the notion of impeachment to Republicans.

"We need to play up Napolitano saying he committed impeachable offenses," Pelosi allegedly declared.

"The public awareness on the details of this is very low …"

"So we need clarity and repetition over and over again."

"‘National security threat.’"

"‘Abuse of power.’"

"‘No one is above the law.’"

Regarding the GOP's outspoken criticism that Trump was not being treated fairly during the impeachment process, the book says Pelosi urged her team not to acknowledge their claims.

"Let’s not give them any attention," she said, according to the book.

In addition, Pelosi claimed, "Democrats are giving Trump more rights than the Democrats had under the Clinton impeachment."

"22 members of Congress press Garland for answers on arrest of pro-life Catholic activist Mark Houck"

Jon Brown

27 SEPTEMBER 2022

FIRST ON FOX: Twenty-two members of Congress demanded answers from Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday regarding the recent FBI arrest of a Catholic pro-life activist.

"As you know, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is once again in the national headlines following another raid of an American citizen," the letter began.

"This time, of Mark Houck, a father of seven, a noted Catholic, and a pro-life activist."

The FBI arrested Houck, 48, on Friday in front of his wife and seven children at his rural Kintnersville home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

The pro-life father, who often protests peacefully outside abortion clinics, is co-founder and president of The King’s Men, a Catholic ministry that aims to spiritually mentor young Catholic men.

The arrest reportedly stemmed from an altercation Houck had with a Planned Parenthood escort in Philadelphia in October 2021, when he was accused of pushing a 72-year-old man outside the clinic after the escort allegedly verbally harassed Houck's 12-year-old son.

The letter noted how Houck's wife, Ryan-Marie, described the arrest to Catholic News Agency as a team of roughly 25 federal agents, with guns drawn and in about 15 vehicles, pounding on their front door and allegedly threatening to break it down.

"There is much to learn about the extent of the FBI's operations in this case, apparently since state-level charges were apparently dismissed by local authorities in Philadelphia," the members wrote.

"Surely, the FBI must have an extraordinary reason for showing up at the home of an American family, allegedly with roughly 25 heavily armed federal agents, and arresting a father in front of his seven children."

The FBI later denied the agents were part of a SWAT team and a former Houck family spokesperson said Ryan-Marie Houck unintentionally used a technical term.

A senior FBI source previously told Fox News there may have been 15-20 agents at the scene, but denied 25 were there.

The agents who came to the door had guns out and at the ready, according to this FBI source, but the guns were never pointed at Houck or his family and were lowered or holstered as soon as Houck was taken into custody.

"At the moment, it appears to be an extraordinary overreach for political ends," the letter continued.

The members demanded an explanation on what they described as "an excessive level of force used by the FBI in this case, and why the force of federal law enforcement was once again used against an American citizen in what should be a state and local matter."

The attorney general was urged to issue a written reply by Sept. 30.

The letter was signed by Reps. Chip Roy of Texas, W. Gregory Steube of Florida, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Matt Rosendale of Montana, Bill Posey of Florida, Mary Miller of Illinois, Andy Biggs of Arizona, Randy Weber of Texas, Ronny Jackson of Texas, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Dan Bishop of North Carolina, Jody Hice of Georgia, Bob Good of Virginia, Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, and Paul Gosar of Arizona.

The senators who signed were Steve Daines of Montana, James Risch of Idaho, Roger Marshall of Kansas, Mike Braun of Indiana, James Lankford of Oklahoma, and Mike Crapo of Idaho.

The letter echoed one sent by Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., who likewise demanded Garland answer for the raid.

In his Tuesday letter, Hawley accused the attorney general of turning a "local dispute into a national case" and criticized the FBI for executing the search warrant in "extreme a manner as one can imagine."
